# Lender Connections: Test Mode and Live Mode

> Save your own Test mode and Live mode credentials for each lender, pick which one is active, and see at a glance when an application went to a lender's test environment.

Lenders you send applications to straight from the app (Idea Financial, Credibly and Sandbar
Fund) use **your account's own credentials**. Each lender connection holds two credential sets,
the way a payment provider in your CRM keeps test keys and live keys:

* **Test mode**: the lender's test (sandbox) environment. Use it to try the flow. Nothing sent
in Test mode is reviewed by a live lender or funded.
* **Live mode**: the lender's real environment. Applications sent in Live mode are real
  applications.

One mode is **active** at a time. Every Submit to that lender uses the active mode's
credentials and goes to that mode's environment. Test mode credentials are never sent to the
live lender, and Live mode credentials are never sent to the test environment.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Any user of the account can manage lender connections. You don't need to be an account admin.

## Connect a lender

1. Turn on the lender's Labs card under **Settings → Labs** (for example **Idea Financial
   business funding**).
2. Open **Settings → Lender Integrations**. An **API connections** section lists a card for each
lender whose Labs card is on.
3. Under **Test mode credentials** or **Live mode credentials**, enter the credentials the
lender issued for that environment and choose **Save**. The app checks them with the lender
first and saves nothing if the lender doesn't accept them.
4. The first set you save becomes the active mode. Saving the other set later doesn't change
   which mode is active.

After saving, the card shows only the last four characters of the identifying field (for
example **Client ID ending 1234**) and when the set was last checked. Credentials are stored
encrypted and are never shown again.

| Lender | What to enter | Test mode | Live mode |
| - | - | - | - |
| Idea Financial | Client ID, client secret, agent ID | Available | Available |
| Credibly | API key | Available (Credibly UAT) | Not available yet |
| Sandbar Fund | Client ID, client secret | Not available yet | Not available yet |

A mode marked **Not available yet** has no confirmed address at the lender, so it can't be
saved or used. It becomes available in a later update.

## Switch modes

Under **Active mode**, choose **Test mode** or **Live mode**. You can only switch to a mode
whose credentials are saved. Removing the active mode's credentials does not switch you to the
other mode. The lender stays unavailable in **Submit** until you save credentials again or
switch modes yourself.

## Test, replace or remove

* **Test** checks a saved set with the lender again. Nothing is created at the lender.
* **Replace** saves a new set for that mode, checked the same way.
* **Remove** deletes that mode's saved credentials.

## How Test mode shows up

Anything sent in Test mode is labeled **Test mode** wherever it appears:

* in **Submit**, next to the lender's name under **Send To**;
* on the client's Funding tab, on the lender's status line and the attempt it came from;
* on Idea Financial's status banner, with a note that the status and offers are not live
  results.

Live mode applications carry no badge.

## When a lender isn't offered in Submit

A lender appears under **Send To** only when its Labs card is on **and** its active mode has
saved credentials. If it's missing, open **Settings → Lender Integrations** and check that
lender's card.

## Partner payouts (Everee)

The **Partner payouts (1099)** card on the **Partners** page works the same way. Everee's
sandbox is a separate Company instance, so a Test mode connection is its own tenant ID and API
token. Connections saved before Test mode existed are your Live mode connection. Switching
modes swaps which Everee account is in use. Partners you onboarded in one mode don't show as
onboarded in the other mode.
