# Link a Missing Application

If a client submits their Processing Application using a different email or phone number, the CRM may associate it with another contact. You can find the submission and attach it to the correct Funding Machine file.

## Find and link the application

1. Open the applicant or client in Funding Machine and select **Application**.
2. If the file has a signed agreement but no Processing Application, click **Find application** beneath **Client already submitted their application?**
3. Find the submission by date, name, email, or phone. Submissions appear newest first. Use **Load older submissions** to continue searching.
4. Click **Review** and check the submitted answers against the intended client.
5. Confirm that the application belongs to the client named in the dialog, then click **Link to \[client name]**.

The Application tab refreshes with the submitted answers. Linking does not edit answers, merge CRM contacts, or move the original CRM submission.

<Note>
  Only submissions from your Location's **FM Processing Application** form that are not already attached to an FM file are available. Your contact-access permissions still apply. A submission's association with a CRM contact, including an automatically saved copy, does not by itself exclude it. The source contact must have no FM opportunity, paperwork, credit or underwriting activity, funding plan, or processing history. Edited applications and applications manually linked to another file remain protected.
</Note>

If another operator links an application while you are reviewing it, refresh the list and choose the correct available submission. Funding Machine will not overwrite an existing application or move one from another FM file.

## Application included in an uploaded agreement

Some clients return one signed PDF that contains both the agreement and their application. You don't need the separate Processing Application form for that file:

1. Upload the PDF on the client's file and click **Classify as Agreement** (or **Edit terms** on an agreement you already classified).
2. Fill in the agreement terms and set the agreement status to **Complete / Signed**, then confirm the terms.
3. Check **This document also contains the client's signed application** and save.

Once this is the client's newest completed agreement, the file stops waiting for the application and you can submit it to Processing. To undo it, uncheck the box and save. The box stays checked for **Client App + Agreement** categories because those already include the application; switch the category to **Agreement Only** to remove it. Agreements sent through the CRM can't be marked this way.

## Correct a mistaken link

Before the file has been submitted for processing or its application answers edited, click **Unlink application** in the Application tab and confirm. This removes the attachment, preserves the answers and link history, and makes the submission available to link to the correct file.

After processing has been submitted or answers edited, contact support to correct the link.

## No unlinked applications found

The application may already be attached to another FM file, the client may not have submitted it yet, or your contact-access permissions may hide it. Check the client's confirmation and try searching their alternate email or phone number.
