# Team roles and commission rates

> Set up the roles on your team, a default commission rate for each role, and a custom rate for anyone who earns a different one.

**Settings → Team** lists the users in your CRM, the roles on your team, such as *Setter* and
*Closer*, and the commission rate each person earns in each role.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is a Labs feature that we hand out one account at a time while it's being built. The
> **Team roles & commissions** card only appears under **Settings → Labs** for accounts that have it.
> With it off, **Settings → Users** works the way it always has.

Team keeps your roles and rates. It doesn't calculate or pay commissions yet.

## Who sees what

* **Account admins** see every rate and can add roles and change rates.
* **Everyone else** sees names and roles only: no rates, and nothing to change.

## Members

**Members** lists the users in your CRM for this account. Users deleted in your CRM don't show
up. To add or remove someone, use **Settings → My Staff** in your CRM.

Everyone gets each role's default rate. To give someone their own rate:

1. Click the role under their name.
2. Enter the rate as a percent, then choose **Save**.

Their rate is marked **Custom**. To go back to the role's default, click the role and choose
**Reset to default**.

Rates go from 0% to 100%, with up to two decimals, such as 7 or 4.25. A custom rate stays put when
the role's default changes, even if it was the same as the default when you saved it. Use
**Reset to default** to follow the default again.

## Roles

On the **Roles** tab, account admins can:

* **Add a role** with a name and a default rate.
* **Edit** a role to rename it or change its default rate. People with a custom rate keep it.
* Use the arrows to change the order roles appear in.
* **Archive** a role you no longer use. It disappears from **Members**, and every rate on it is
kept. **Restore** brings it back with those rates.

Roles can't be deleted, and two roles can't share a name. An account can have up to 50 roles,
archived ones included.

## Team on a file

Once your account has at least one role that isn't archived, each applicant's page gets a **Team** tab. It lists
your roles in order and who holds each one on that applicant's file, or **No one yet**. Each role
has one person per file, and one person can hold more than one role.

* **Account admins** use **Choose** or **Change** on a role to pick someone from the users in your
CRM, searching by name or email, and **Remove** to clear it.
* **Everyone else** sees the names only, and only on files they can open under your Data Access
  settings.

If you archive a role, files that still have someone on it keep showing them, marked
**Archived**. You can remove them, but you can't pick anyone new for that role. If someone is
deleted in your CRM, files keep their name, marked **No longer in your CRM**, until you change
or remove them.

The Team tab doesn't change the contact's owner or anything else in your CRM yet.
