This is a Labs feature that we hand out one account at a time while it’s being built. The
Team roles & commissions card only appears under Settings → Labs for accounts that have it.
To set up roles and rates first, see Team roles.
How lines are earned
- A line is written for each role on a file’s Team when the file’s funding-fee invoices collect more money. It’s the collected amount that role hasn’t been paid on yet, times the person’s rate for that role.
- The rate is the one in force when the line is written. Changing a rate later never changes a line that’s already written.
- Putting someone on a role pays them on money the file already collected that the role hasn’t been paid on, at today’s rate. Someone who takes over a role earns only on money the role hasn’t already been paid on.
- A role no one holds on a file earns nothing until someone is put on it.
Who sees what
- Account admins see the whole ledger on Commissions, can mark lines paid, add and remove manual lines, and export it. They also see each file’s commissions on its Team tab.
- Everyone else gets My commissions: only their own lines and totals, with nothing to change and no export.
The ledger
Commissions lists lines newest first. Filter by dates, member, role, status (Earned or Paid) and file. Load more reads the next lines for those filters. At the top:- Earned is owed and not paid yet. Paid has been marked paid.
- Needs review lists files where the money collected fell below what a role was already paid on, for example after a refund. Nothing is taken back on its own. Open the file and add a negative manual line for the commission on the money that came back. The file stays on the list until it has collected what was credited, so the note is a reminder, not a to-do that clears.
Mark paid and Mark unpaid
- Use Mark paid or Mark unpaid on a line to change just that one.
- Mark all paid and Mark all unpaid change every line your filters match. You’re shown how many lines and their total before anything changes. One run covers the newest 2,000 matching lines; run it again for the rest.
- Lines are changed 100 at a time. If a batch fails, it stops there and tells you how many lines were changed. Run it again to finish.
- Mark unpaid clears the paid date.
Manual lines
Use Add a manual line to pay or take back an amount by hand: commission on money collected through invoices created in the CRM, a bonus, or a correction after a refund.- Choose the file, the role and the person. On a file’s Team tab, the file is already chosen. Someone no longer in your CRM can still get a line on a file whose Team they’re on, or where they already have a line.
- Enter the amount. Use a minus sign to take money back, such as -125.50.
- Add a note saying why. It’s required.
Export
Export CSV downloads the lines your filters match, up to the newest 2,000: date earned, file and its ID, role, member, kind (Automatic or Manual), base, rate, amount, status, date paid and note. Narrow the dates to export the rest. Only account admins can export.My commissions
Everyone who isn’t an account admin sees My commissions under Settings → Team: their own lines, newest first, with their Earned and Paid totals. They can filter by dates and status. An admin marks lines paid.Commissions on a file
Account admins see Commissions on this file on each applicant’s Team tab:- what the file collected;
- each role’s Earned and Paid;
- Needs review on a role whose lines counted more than the file now shows collected.
