Replace the New Lead Webhook Step with the Funding Machine Action
Your Apply for Funding workflow tells Funding Machine about each new applicant with a Custom Webhook step. That step needs a URL, an authorization header, and a hand-built body, and it breaks quietly when any of those drift. The Funding Machine app now ships a workflow action, Create Funding Machine Applicant, that does exactly the same thing with no URL, secret, or body to maintain. It runs the same intake as the webhook: the lead is recorded, an applicant and opportunity are created when the trusted intake signal is present, and the automatic credit report runs under the same settings and the same wallet rules. You do not need to change anything else. Auto-pull settings, minimum score, wallet checks, notifications, and duplicate protection all behave the same way. Replacing the step is a one-time edit per workflow.
Before You Start
- The Funding Machine app must be installed in the sub-account. If you can open Funding Machine from the left sidebar, it is.
- Open the workflow that contains the webhook step. It is usually the workflow triggered by the 1. MAIN Apply For Funding Form submission and is often named along the lines of “New FM Lead”.
Step-by-Step
1
1. Open the workflow
From the left sidebar click Automation, then Workflows, and open your new-lead workflow.
2
2. Find the Custom Webhook step
Look for the Webhook (Custom Webhook) step that posts to a
myfundingmachine.com address ending in /api/webhooks/new-lead. Click it once so you can see its settings. Leave it in place for now.3
3. Add the Funding Machine action directly below it
Click the + under the webhook step, search for Funding Machine, and choose Create Funding Machine Applicant.
4
4. Fill in the optional fields, or leave them blank
The action needs nothing from you: it reads the sub-account and the contact from the workflow itself. The optional fields exist only if your webhook step was sending extra values:
Copy the same merge tags you used in the webhook body (for example
{{contact.name}}) into the matching field. If a field is blank, Funding Machine reads the value from the contact record, just as it did when the webhook body left it out.5
5. Delete the Custom Webhook step
Click the old Webhook step, open its ⋮ menu, and choose Delete. If both steps run back to back in the same workflow run, Funding Machine collapses them into one application, and the credit report is never pulled twice. Do not leave both in place with a Wait step between them: a delivery that arrives more than a minute after the first is treated as a new submission and gets its own application. The webhook is being retired, so remove it now.
6
6. Save and publish
Click Save, then make sure the workflow is Published.
Verify It Worked
Submit a test application through your form, then open the contact in Funding Machine. You should see the applicant and opportunity exactly as before, and, if automatic credit pulls are enabled and the applicant qualifies, the credit report.Your new-lead workflow now uses the Funding Machine action. Nothing else in the workflow needs to change.
Troubleshooting
- I do not see “Funding Machine” when I search for the action. The app is not installed in this sub-account, or the action has not been rolled out to it yet. Contact support.
- The action ran but no applicant was created. The same intake rules apply as before: the contact needs a trusted intake signal (the applicant form source or the applicant tag). Check that the workflow trigger is the application form submission.
- No credit report was pulled. Check Settings → Automatic credit pulls and the wallet balance. The action honors the same settings and the same minimum-score rule as the webhook did.
